Excerpt:
Ryne pulled his belt from the
loops on his pants as he rounded the corner. Tonight was his brother’s
bachelor party. His brother’s last night to be single and Ryne intended to
make it a memorable evening. He loosened his tie, pulled it over his head,
and began unbuttoning his shirt. Suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. A naked woman stood before the full-length
mirror in the men’s locker room. Turning around, he opened the door
again and checked the sign. He definitely hadn’t read it wrong. Men’s
Locker Room in big bold black lettering stared back at him. Striding back
down the hall, he leaned against the wall just out of her sight, diligently
watching her. Holy shit, she is built like a brick shithouse.
He studied the way she applied color to just the right places on her face.
She looks like that stuck-up chick from the HR department. I wonder if
she knows she’s in the wrong room. As tempting as it was to continue to
watch her, he didn’t have time to mess around as the party started at seven
and he had to get ready or he would be late.
“Well, Well, Well, what do we
have here?” He questioned, watching her stiffen at the sound of his deep
voice.
Beth jumped; grabbing the
towel from the floor, she covered her exposed breasts. She focused her eyes
on the corner of the mirror to see the image of a man leaning against the
wall with his arms crossed in front of him. His blond hair was tousled, the
baby blue shirt he had on unbuttoned to his waist, his piercing, dark,
chestnut brown eyes staring at her.
She stood up and wrapped the
towel around her, shielding her body from his prying eyes. “Excuse me sir,
but what are you doing in the women’s locker room?” she asked as she tucked
the towel under her arm. “You must be lost as the last time I checked the
men’s locker room was down the hall. I won’t mention this to anyone so that
you don’t get in trouble, but you need to leave right now or I’m going to
call security.”
She watched him and he didn’t
seem to budge from the wall as he replied, “Seems you’re the one who’s in
the wrong place. This is the men’s, and that hasn’t changed in the last,
oh, ten years that I’ve been working here.”
Beth glanced nervously around
the room for any indication that he was wrong. Just out of her view, to the
left was a row of shiny white urinals. Now completely embarrassed by the
situation she quickened her pace to the bench. Picking up her bag and her
clothes, “I must have been in such a hurry that I didn’t notice the sign on
the door. No harm done. I’ll just walk on down to the women’s and finish
dressing.”
“No, you don’t have to go.
You definitely have nothing that I haven’t seen before. Go ahead and finish
getting dressed. I’m going to shower and change for a party. Be out of
here in about twenty minutes. Just ignore me and no one has to be the
wiser.” Ryne explained.
“I don’t want someone else to
walk in and catch the two of us in here. Can you imagine the kind of
trouble we could both get into? Are you sure?” Beth waited for his
response before setting the bag back on the bench. Whew, I really need
to pay more attention to what I am doing. She couldn’t believe she
didn’t notice the distinction and that it wasn’t the women’s locker room.
“I don’t foresee it being a
problem. No one has to find out about it.” Ryne said.
She watched him as he walked
around to the other side of the wall. Out of sight of his piercing brown
eyes, Beth put on her panties, hoping he hadn’t seen too much. She was
curious as to who he was and where he came from. “You know,” she spoke
loudly in hopes that he would hear, “We haven’t been formally introduced and
if we are going to share this big bathroom together, then I suppose this is
the perfect time for introductions. My name is Elizabeth Raines. My
friends call me Beth. I’ve been working for Kerrington for about five
years. Funny thing, I’ve never seen you in the building before,” she said
as she fixed the straps of her bra and snapped it securely in the front.
She found her makeup bag, walked back to the mirror, and plopped down in
front of it. In her haste to get out of the room, she had forgotten to
apply her lipstick. She picked the perfect shade of red, and smoothed it
on, being careful not to get it outside the lines of her lips. Satisfied
with her reflection she stood up and bent over at the waist, crimping her
hair in her hands to give it a fuller effect.
“Nice to meet you! I’m Ryne
Foster, my friends call me Ryne,” he said. “I actually work on the third
floor in the Information Technology Branch. I think I’ve seen you around a
few times. You just always seem like you’re in a hurry to get somewhere.
You’re always reading the paperwork you’re carrying at the time. I just
never wanted to interrupt you to introduce myself.”
Beth caught his reflection in
the mirror as he walked out from behind the lockers and leaned against the
wall. She tossed her hair over the top of her head and ran her fingers
through to the ends, fluffing and spritzing it with hairspray. She caught
his gaze as it drifted the full length of her body, watching him cover the
front part of his towel like he was trying to hide something. Did he
just get a woody watching me bend over? Beth cracked a smile. Too
bad I don’t have time to tease him right now. I sure bet we could fog up
this mirror.
Ryne said, “You know, you
have a very nice body. Surely, you’re in a rush to finish and meet up with
your man. I’ll leave you to it and get in the shower.”
“Nope. Actually, I’m just
going to meet some girlfriends for a night of fun. We’ll probably end up
doing a bit of club hopping and dancing later on tonight.” She turned to
face him in her emerald green bra and matching thong. Her hands poised on
her hips in defense. “Just because I work hard to keep my body in shape and
take care of myself, doesn’t mean that I’m attached to anyone. I actually
prefer being single and don’t think I’ll ever get married. Just don’t have
the time for it. I have big dreams that are keeping me from settling down
and planning a family.”
She moved to the locker as
she glanced over at him, this time letting her gaze run from the top of his
head to his bare feet, her senses taking in every bare inch. His shoulders
- broad. His body - tanned. He probably worked out and spent time in the
outdoors. Well look at that. Smiling to herself, she hadn’t
really paid attention before but she could see that he was in excellent
condition. Very nice six pack abs. Looks rock hard. Wonder if he has
anything else that looks good rock hard.
He asked, “Dreams of doing
what if I might ask?”
As she reached for her
clothes, she thought for a moment, wondering just how much information she
needed to give this stranger. “Well,” she started, “I just don’t think that
I want to spend the rest of my life working for someone else. I want to be
my own boss. I want a job that I enjoy doing instead of the daily nine to
five. I hate lining someone else’s pockets with my hard-earned money. Plus
I was definitely thinking about doing it all on a remote island somewhere.
The kind of job that includes self-satisfaction, the sun, and beach sounds
perfect.” Beth reached for her evening attire. She had riffled through her
closet this morning and pulled out the sexy little jade dress. The cotton-lycra
combination of the material hugged her body and she liked the way it showed
off her curves. The v-neckline complimented her oval face and strong
shoulders and definitely made her feel sexy. She slipped on the dress and
she sat down on the bench. She’d brought the matching stilettos that made
her five foot seven inch frame seem closer to six feet tall. She turned
back to Ryne, “Look I don’t have time for this. I have to go so that I’m
not late. Again.” She stood up, facing him. She threw the rest of her
things back into her tattered gym bag, slung it over her shoulder, and
picked up her purse. “It was nice to meet you. Next time you see me, don’t
be afraid to get my attention and interrupt whatever I’m doing. Got to
run.” She found her car keys and headed for the door. “Bye.”
